If you are thinking about counselling it may be that you are facing difficult life events that sometimes feel overwhelming. There may be feelings from the past that are hard to think about. You may feel you want space to reflect on how you feel and what you really want from life. It can sometimes seem too difficult to talk about these things with people you are close to.
What happens in counselling?
Sessions are usually 50 minutes, can be short term or longer. This is agreed with you at your initial meeting and reviewed regularly.
In the session you are supported to explore how you think and feel to help you make more sense of your situation, perhaps about things that have been bothering you for a long time or maybe a recent crisis. This gaining of self awareness in itself is helpful. It can also open up a whole new set of choices for you.
